This is a common sparrow-sized finch. Male ( photos n° 2 & 3) is colorful and easily recognized by a blue-grey crown, nape and upper mantle, and a rust-red throat, breast and belly. It also sports a recognizable black forehead and a white panel and a whitish bar on coverts. The rump is a light olive-green; while the tail is black and bordered white. Female (photos n° 1 & 3) and juvenile are more discreet in coloration.
