sadly, there are artworks like those in china and vietnam too, but I think, they use the wing of the dead ones - at least I hope so.
Interesting site. I do like the look of framed butterflies but I have mixed feelings about it. I was in a market in Cameroon and saw a framed piece of art meant to look like a landscape. As I got closer and really looked at it, I could see that the whole thing was made of butterfly wings!

Glad you ID'd it as a birdwing. This spotting now makes 3 species of birdwings on Noah. Search in Organisms to see the other 2 if you're interested ( one of them is my spotting!)
It's definitely a birdwing, uncertain of the specific species.
