One of my favorite little boreal forest flower! Nice sighting.... Glad to be of help.
The four leaved plant is bunchberry (Cornus canadensis). The flower, which is what I suspect you are interested in appears to be twin flower (Linnaea borealis). Take a look at this page and see if it matches what you remember: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linnaea.
Its looked something interesting shrub, please show close picture if available of those flowers.
