Karen, just curious if you check range maps before making suggestions? Double checking your ID suggestions before making them is very important as many users don't check them and just assume the suggestion is correct. I wonder this because the species you suggested is not found in New Mexico. Please look into these things before making a suggestions in the future, thanks. My vote is this guy, http://www.nmherpsociety.org/reptiles/lizards/sceloporuscowlesi/index.html but it shows you are just barely out of range. The closest match in range is this guy http://www.nmherpsociety.org/reptiles/lizards/sceloporustristichus/index.html but they have paired neck blotches whereas your guy seems to have one continuous blotch. Wish I could be of more help!
