Field Notes

Description:

An Autumn Meadowhawk dragonfly spotted along the boardwalk at Huntley Meadows Park. This individual is a female, as indicated by its coloration and terminal appendages. I spotted another female (featured in my last spotting) at the same location a day earlier. Some dragonflies are creatures of habit that return to the same spot day after day; these two dragonflies may be the same individual! Related Resource: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/58236121

Habitat:

Huntley Meadows Park, a 1,425 acre wetland area in Fairfax County, Virginia USA. Related Resource: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/huntley/
