Description:
This butterfly was flying around a field with many wildflowers, and native plants. This butterfly is fairly common in Texas, and has a grey back, and a Purplish blue iridescent color in the inside of the wings. This butterfly is the sole representative of the monotypic genus Echinargus. It is found in Central America and the extreme southern U.S. Echinargus isola migrates regularly throughout most of the U.S. almost to the Canada–United States border, and very rarely into the southern prairies. This larvae of this butterfly feeds on mesquites (Prosopis).

In a field with many wildflowers. Fort Worth, Texas.
