Description:

Snow flowers appear after the snow has melted in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Flowers emerge from the ground in early spring and fade after a short, brilliant display. We found several of these on the North Grove trail.

Habitat:

Sierra Nevada mountains.

Notes:

This is an awesome spotting! It took me a bit of research to find the latin name for this plant. It's really interesting. I love parasitic blooms. Sanguinea is the only species in the genus.
