Trumpet fish
Aulostomus maculatus
36.0174, -95.9751
Field Notes
Description:
A long bodied fish with upturned mouths. Often they swim vertically to blend in with vertical coral. Trumpetfish swim slowly, sneaking up on unsuspecting prey, or lie motionless like a floating stick, swaying back and forth with the wave action of the water. They are adept at camouflaging themselves and often swim in alignment with other larger fishes. They feed almost exclusively on small fish by sucking them suddenly into their small mouths. --wikipedia
Habitat:
They often live around coral reefs and lagoons. This one lives at the Oklahoma Aquarium.
Notes:
Cool looking fish I saw at the aquarium.
