Description:
Adult olive, grey or brownish above with sparse black spots, yellowish below, uniform or flecked with black. Tail is long and compressed laterally which aids in swimming.
Habitat:
A diurnal lizard, though more active during the mornings and evenings. Normally it lives in burrows. When out foraging, it moves slowly along the floor with tongue flicking in and out of mouth like snakes tongue. It is a agile climber. They swim well and can remain sub-merged for a considerable time.
