Is it the five-lined skink?
Probably a five-lined skink (Eumeces fasciatus) or possibly the Southeastern five-lined skink (E. inexpectatus). Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plestiodon_fasciatus & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southeastern_Five-lined_Skink
Both, skinks are lizards. That's a young one in the genus Eumeces
