Pear-shaped Puffball

Their bases are elongated as compared to the similar Lycoperdon perlatum. The first photo shows one that had already released its spores or was ready to release the spores. They are a bit darker than L. perlatum as well. Inside, the flesh is white when young and then turns yellow and then brown as it ages. The last photo shows some more mature specimens that probably became smooth after lots of rain washing away the outside studs
