Description:
Also called the blue-tonge lizard, it is a stout reptile that grows up to 60 cm in length, with brown to grey scales and a barred pattern across the body and tail. The underside is usually pale.
Habitat:
Common throughout Esstern Australia. Found in a variety of settings, and it is not uncommon in suburban backyards. Often found amongst leaf litter and under rocks.
Notes:
This was taken in our back-yard. As we live in a rural setting, we have a large yard which is home to several Blue-tongues. Likke most reptiles, they are most active in the warmer months. We like them because they eat garden snails as well as other grubs and insects. We enjoy sharing our gardens with these cute reptiles.
