Field Notes

Description:

This is a mature male.

Habitat:

Dense, mixed conifer forest. Primarily seen in western Washington State but, spotted here in southern Oregon Cascades range. There is a mixed conifer forest here with many madrone, scrub oak, dougla fir, spruce etc. (second growth).

Notes:

I have only seen him a few times. He allowed me to accompany him for about an hour (in my yard). I was lucky to get this shot! I have not seen him for about a week. I am thinking that he may have went farther north to mate?
