Can spread rapidly over large areas, due to its underground rhizome.
Hence, it has a high invasive potential and once established in an area it is hard to eradicate. Cutting and using the fresh sprouts for salad proved quite effective (o;

Notes:

Young shoots are edible. Taste is comparable to spinach or parsley and it contains plenty potassium, vitamin C, carotene and iron. As the name indicates, it is said to help against rheumatism and gout.
