Field Notes

Description:

This is a female. Males are dark black but females and juveniles are yellowish.

Habitat:

Pantanal, seasonally flooded grasslands and forest,
found from northeast Argentina, east Bolivia, east and south Brazil and Paraguay.

Notes:

I spotted these black howler monkeys on a walk in the Pantanal a few hours east of Campo Grande.
