Field Notes

Description:

Hamster-like rodent that prefers brush and grasslands. This poor vole was stranded on a tiny island due to flooding, but seemed to be making the best of it.

Habitat:

Grassy shoreline of an urban lake.

Notes:

It had set up a nest among the loose stonework and wire mesh of a bridge foundation, along with several other voles.
