Field Notes

Habitat:

Coastal marshes (nature reserve)

Notes:

The very similar Whiskered Tern also breeds here normally, perhaps they are on one of the other nearby islands. European Bee-eaters also bred here in past years but the power wires they used to perch on have been removed, along with several "illegal" buildings. The marshes have been reworked over the last couple of years with some areas fenced off to give the birds more privacy. I will need to visit again as they cover quite a large area.
