Pale Cup Moth Caterpillar

A bright green caterpillar about 30 mm long with a flat ventral side which it uses to creep on the leaf surface like a slug. The dorsal side has dark brown shields with evertable orange spikes set on tubercles. The anterior shield is larger than the one at the rear and they are both flat. This is one of the features that distinguishes this caterpillar from other Doratifera. <br> On either side of the midline and above the lateral spikes is a bright orange line. This is another distinguishing feature. <br> Two empty cups (pic 4) were seen on a dry branch on the same tree - probably those of this species and from a previous season.
