Field Notes

Description:

I believe this to be a poplar hawk moth. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It looked like a dried up leaf. As sitting, it was about 4 cm. from wing tip to wing tip.

Habitat:

On the siding of my house in Germantown, N.Y.

Please add to and join mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8841449 It looked like there was another moth to the right of the picture, was there?
Thank you for the kind comments. It did not get caught on the web. The spider, though fairly large by my standards, is only a small fraction of the size of the moth. The moth walked unencumbered through the web.
Great Pic !!!, Does it get caught on the spider web??
Wow! That's what it is from Wikipedia. Great picture! BugGuide is a great help, too.
