California whiptail (western whiptail)
Aspidoscelis tigris munda
36.3553, -119.173
Field Notes
Habitat:
Found with some others (I counted about four but there is probaly more.) in and around a small open green house, about 6 square meters, only slightly warmer than out side, with many pieces of plastic, dried grass, and a pile of wavey shaped tile.
Notes:
The California whiptail is a subspecies of the western whiptail. Wikipedia did not have a good link for the species or the subspecies, so here is a link to a page from California herps: http://www.californiaherps.com/lizards/pages/a.t.munda.html See how most of the photos don't look exactly like this one, but when you scroll down to the ones from Tulare county (where I found this specimen) they look exactly like this?
