Your post reminded me that I haven't put my spotting of them up yet. I'm just about to do that. :) They sit very, very still when they're stalking fish.
Thanks, Kymberlee! When my husband and I saw it we thought it was fake. It did not move and the back of the wings look like scales. Then I saw a photo posted on Project Noah of a Green Heron and saw your comment, so now we know it is a real bird. Cool! Interesting that you are seeing a lot of them in Chicago.
It's real. It's a green heron. We've got a bunch of them in Chicago right now. :)
