Managed to relocate this guy from a boat dock without harm. It made for a good teaching opportunity.

That's true. I take issue with senseless killing.
About 55 years ago my dad had killed a snake . My mom was very disturbed and repentant about it and religiously prayed for forgiveness. Since then i have developed an awareness, respect and fascination for these creatures. One day my mum in law, found to huge snakes in the kitchen. She lifted them up with a huge stick and walked very slowly to the river and released them. The river was about 2 miles away. That is how much we Indians restrain ourselves from killing snakes. this was in Gujarat which has lots of cobras. People keep mongoose as pets.
@ Emma.. I have to agree with you... Poison or not.. all living creature have a place on this planet...
Sadly many of these guys are killed due to long held fears and misconceptions.
I wish that people would learn to use tongs rather than cutting the head off! If you kill a living creature ,you have to live with that all your life.
It was well over 5 ft long, and it is a constrictor
looks at least 7 ft long. it uses constriction rather than venom?
