Description:

an annual herb, creeping, max 10 cm high, little light violett flowers, heart shaped leaves

Habitat:

meadows, gardens

Notes:

use: young plants are edible as vegetable (cooked) have a bitter taste - was used to give beer its taste before using hop;
it was used by germans as a magic plant (against witches, pestilence, and bad luck)
medical use: head- and earache (hildegard v. bingen), liverdisease, jaundice, hipache (leonhard fuchs - new kreüterbuch), chinese medical use: nephritis, pneumonia
