Description:

Adult form of periodical cicada, brood 19. The translucent wings can be seen in this photo... one of my favorite photos and its not a reptile!

Habitat:

Forest, shrubs. Seems like they are everywhere right now. Part of a huge cicada brood 19 mass emergence.

I witnessed the entire cicada phenomenon in Chicago ,many years ago. that time i was told that these Cicada's emerged every 16 years. It was quite amazing with so many cicada's around ,singing and chirping!! Magical! the next cycle should be due within a couple of years.
