Field Notes

Description:

An attractive white butterfly with a wingspan of about 50 mm. This one is a male with predominantly white upper sides of the wings with marginal black, enclosing small white patches. The fore wings show a small black patch in the white area. The under wings show black terminal parts enclosing white heart-shaped areas with yellow.

Habitat:

This one was spotted on a Sedum plant (Sedum spectabile) on a sunny morning.
