BTW ,a recluse has a eye in the center. This one does not.

@ Matt, Did you notice any violin like marking on it"s back? if it is plain black or brown it definitely is not a recluse. I do not see any markings in this picture. Maybe the pic is not very clear? Brown recluses are not that common. Regardless ,it is always a good idea to practice caution with creatures.
Guys, I found this in my apartment in New York. Are you sure? A similar spider did escape from my luggage when I got back from south africa in December, though...
If nit is a brown recluse it will definitely have a white violin structure. If this did not then it is not a brown recluse.
I'd agree on the Brown recluse identification. I've seen a few recluses in the flesh, pretty fascinating experiences.
