Talking of swoon-worthy colours: Would I be anything like an African friend who saw a peacock for the first time in her life. (She'd never seen photos of one before, didn't even know such a bird existed.) We were walking in a park in Holland and a peacock fanned open his tail feathers in front of us. She practically fell to the ground shouting and crying with joy, and gasping "Thank You God! You didn't need anyone to tell You what colours to make this bird!" ... I'd probably be a bit more 'reserved'...
There's also the elephant hawkmoth, which is banded bright pink - not as absolutely stunning (and completely swoon-worthy!) as the oleander hawkmoth, but to see something that colour in nature must be awesome!
I'd love to see an Oleander Hawk-Moth toooo! ... I'd probably swoon!! :-} We saw another Tropical Swallowtail Moth about 5 weeks after spotting this one http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6669331 This one stayed a bit longer so we could take more photos. (By that time I was taking pictures as well as my husband.)
I can imagine! I would love to see an oleander hawkmoth. I've only seen pictures but the colouring on those wings.... I love moths and butterflies in particular, there's something so indescribably beautiful about them.
Could hardly believe my eyes when I first saw him - the size, the colour, the texture of his wings... It was he - and this one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6325836 - who helped 'convert' me into a moth lover! :-)
Beautiful creature, I love the colours of him. Thanks for sharing this with us. :)
Thanks ceherzog, alice and nath! (Sorry for late response, ceherzog.)
