Field Notes

Habitat:

wooded areas

Notes:

I almost didn't see this baby deer. I think that the sound of the four wheeler scared off the mother. The fawn's defense is to get down and stay very still. I was taking a few pictures and it realized I could see it. It made a "baaa" noise like a baby goat and jumped up. It headed off into the woods.

It wasn't dead. It was laying real still. The last picture is where it got up and ran off. I guess me being so close scared it and it realized it wasn't hidden well. I think my four wheeler scared off the mother.
cute...much like a cattle calf...
He's making me sleepy... Aoaoaoahhh...
So adorable..cute eyes..!!
I believe he did. I was told to leave him there, come back in two hours and check. He wasn't anywhere around when I came back. I have been back several times. I have high hopes for the cute little fawn!
