Description:

About 4 inches across.

Habitat:

Flower garden in Piney Woods region of Texas.

Notes:

Unlike the other swallowtail butterflies in my area, Pipe-vine Swallowtails don't have any orange spots on their dorsal (top) side.

And since digital cameras have that delay after you press the button, it's even harder to get the shot you want! I just take a lot and sort them out afterward. :) Thank you for the very kind comment!
TextileRanger, Your collection of Swallowtails Butterflies is fantastic. I will try that with the Swallowtails here, (holding my breath... ; ), they just will not stop fluttering and have not been able to get any good pictures.
I held my breath the whole time I was taking pictures, afraid to scare it off! :)
