Description:

This creature is a "bat's baby". I found this, in the parking area of my house. It was very week and was counting its last breath. I tried to rescue the baby by putting it under the shade of a shrub. I found it dead when i returned after a couple of hours.

Bat Conservation International is a great resource, if you are interested in learning more about bats. They have an article from India on their website. It is VOLUME 13, NO. 2 Summer 1995. THE BATS OF INDIA by Mistry, Shahroukh. "The key to protecting India's bats is learning more about their ecology and behavior; new studies are only beginning to reveal how important bats are to India's diverse ecosystems . . ." http://www.batcon.org/index.php/media-and-info/bats-archives.html?task=viewArticle&magArticleID=707
Thanks Ashish for giving information on how bats raise their young ones. Actually i forgot to tell, that this bat baby was injured and it looked like its one of the limbs was fracture !
Yes..Emma its true for mammals and birds. But in bats(its a mammal) there is no nest, babies hold in their wings. I think mother bat might had serious accident and coincidently lost this baby from her wing.
@ Ashish and Deshu, Both of you are very respectful of wildlife and very aware of how species are fast diminishing. @ Deshu, mortality rates for wild life are high due to all kinds of dangers they face. Here they recommend to pick up this new born and try and put it back in its nest or find its parents. I usually run to the Lindsay Wild Life hospital , in these situations RIP , BATbaby!!
How come Ashish, we are not the part of web of life ???
This is why, because we are not part of Web of life of this Beautiful Planet... :(
Yes, you are right Ashish. I wanted to save him, but didn't knew how :-(
So sad..some things we can not understand about how to save them. Time is very less for such incidences.
