Description:

Also called Trail Blazing Star. Height: 3 ft. A spike cluster made of many purple, round flower heads crowded together along a main stem giving an appearance of one long compact flower.

Habitat:

Spotted in a meadow along the trail north of the Chippewa Picnic Area on Hwy 26.

Notes:

This plant is a great nectar source for butterflies and is also liked by deer.
