Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly is blue to blue-green. Has brick-red spots along border and wing base. This is a male. Females lack red spotting. It measures 3-3 and 3/8" (76-86 mm).

Habitat:

This butterfly was spotted in a field near a shopping center in West Virginia.
Open woodlands, forest edges, nearby meadows, watercourses, shorelines, and roads and paths.
