Field Notes

Description:

Metallic green sometimes tending towards blue, white spots on abdomen, large jaws. Moves very fast.

Notes:

I found him stuck in my dog's water bowl! Once he dried off, he flew away with alarming speed. The photos really don't do justice to his beautiful color.

Kinda unusual for a tiger beetle -- they are a skittish lot :)
Thanks so much!! I was really excited to find him, and even more when he held still for a few minutes.
Like the head-on shot, and love tiger beetles.
I've mentioned this before on other sightings, but this is one of my favorite insects and you did very good to get these wonderful photographs!
