Description:

large, 8cm (3.2") single flower, easily the largest single orchid flower I've ever spotted in the wild

Habitat:

tropical heath forest/mixed dipterocarp forest, 800m

Notes:

I spotted this along the trail to Nepenthes camp. With a flower this big and this colour, it was hard to miss. Most wild orchids I spot are small, less than 2.5 cm (1"), so it was awesome to see one so large as this. Maliau basin conservation area.
