Description:

Tuxentius carana, the Forest Pied Pierrot, is a butterfly in the Lycaenidae family.

The males are often seen mud-puddling...

Habitat:

Seen with several other species of small butterflies, mud-puddling on damp patches on a dirt road running through the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, SW Uganda..

This is a common forest species, found at elevations between sea level and about 1000m.
