Field Notes

Description:

Had seen these for the first time (like so many other species) on PN. Flower-like fungus...or a star fallen to earth. These two were nestled against the root of a very old and tall tree...would have totally missed it had my eyes not been primed on PN.

Habitat:

Kayaler bagan or Kayal's garden is now a bird sanctuary in the heart of Kolkata city. Although called a garden, it is not a landscaped area with only decorative garden varieties...rather everything growing wild is preserved. So old epi-phyte laden trees rub branches with bamboo groves and wild vines trail all over . S0 called weeds flourish. It is also called Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary. ...a 17 acre small enclosed area.
