Field Notes

Description:

Large, all white mushroom with a knobbed cap. I didn't get a picture of the base of the stipe, so the exact species and common name can't be determined.

Habitat:

Growing on the ground in a mixed forest, but in an area with lots of oak.

Notes:

The section Phalloideae is infamous for having the taxa that are the most common causes of death by mushroom poisoning in the world. The primary causes of death are from the chemicals known as amatoxins.
