Field Notes

Description:

Iridescent dark blue wing tops with golden yellow stripes down the middle and outer (bottom) edge of each wing, hairy body, long curved antennae. Possibly a horned "nose"? Approx 33 mm in length, 17 mm across the breadth of its' back wing edges. Measurements made by comparison to my knuckles and hand. The other photo is the spot where I encountered him.

Habitat:

High altitude cloud forest, Cerro de la Muerte, Costa Rica.

Notes:

Very chill little guy, climbed right onto my hand to tag along on a short hike and have his photo taken! I'd really love to know his name / classification details / any other clues to his identity!
