Description:

Unfortunately this bird is captive but because it is such a common sight in this area I decided to post it.

The barn owl is the most common owl in the UK. I was lucky enough to see it a couple of times on my university campus at dusk.

Hi DannyWales - that is correct! I actually read an interesting comment on it yesterday in the Guardian (can't seem to dig up the link again!) - talking about how it was an unlucky incident but allowed spectators to see the true nature of captive animals (the lion that is).
I love owls too but isn't this the one who flew into the lions den? Literally...

Yeah, hopefully he gets some fly time! Was part of Colchester Zoo. I really love owls, they are my favourite birds.
At least they let him fly around... Looks like he must belong to people that does falconry as hobby?
