Description:

Diplacodes trivialis (Rambur, 1842). This is a young female. In this species, the young males and females are almost identical, except for a white patch at the base of the hindwings of the male. As they mature, both male and female develop a blue colouring over their thorax and abdomen. This colouring is called "pruinescence" - information from Wikipedia.

Habitat:

Spotted resting on weeds growing on a turf dyke which acts as a partition and walkway in a rice field.

Notes:

This dragonfly is also known as a Ground Skimmer.
