Oh, so they still sell it? I thought I saw it on some herbal remedies! And Gumbos is my favorite dish!
They also make a spice called file from the dried and crushed leaves. It's used to thicken gumbo.
Wow I thought I heard my father say they drank something made from this plant, it was root beer! I did not know they banned it.
Yes, they use to use this make tea and the traditional root beer until it was banned for mass production by the FDA. Large doses over time can produce permanent liver damage or cancer.
Did people use this for drinks or herbs?
