Field Notes

Description:

The fire dartfish are easily recognised by their beautiful colouration starting at white and gradually shading into signal orange and red on the tail. They use their elongated dorsal fin as a locking device and signalling towards other conspecifics. Usually seen in pairs on sandy bottoms.
