Description:

A marine gastropd mollusk which feeds on clams and other snails. Can be found mostly in sub-tidal waters and is distributed from Labrador, Canada to South Carolina, U.S..

Habitat:

Sandy or muddy bottoms

Notes:

Photo taken while diving off of Plymouth Beach, Plymouth, Massachusetts, U.S..

I've moved this snail from the Arthropods category to the Other category for you. Arthropods have exoskelatons and jointed limbs; think bee, dragonfly, crab.

Hi Marta! Oh, yes... the water was quite chilly at 10 C just a week ago. Massacusetts and Cape Cod Bays are always cold. But Buzzard's Bay on the south-coast of the state can reach a healthy 23! You miss the lobsters and the snails... I'm getting tired of them. :) Kidding, but I do need to explore more. :)

I learnt to scuba dive in 2002 with East Coast divers in New England. I know exactly where have you been. I used to go to a little beach in Rockport, Garden Rocks or something like this??..Anyway, I miss seeing the lobsters and the moon snails down there (although I don´t miss the 7-11 C water) :-)
