Field Notes

Description:

Not the best photos of the worlds largest fish. This specimen was about 20' (7m) long, just a baby for a giant that can get up to 41' (12m). This was seen about 20m from the shore.

Habitat:

tropical oceans around the world

Notes:

I spotted this in Sogod Bay near Maasin on the island of Leyte. It was a brand new eco tourism destination on the island and I was one of the first visitors.
After I took these photos, I slipped into the water from our canoe and snorkelled with this giant. It was an amazing experience!
