Field Notes

Description:

black with yellow dots along the sides, jointed "worm" with many legs

Habitat:

Temperate coastal rainforest, in the soil

Notes:

This fella lost his head but was still reacting to stimuli by moving its legs in waves. These don't bite (unlike their cousins, the centipedes); they eat leaf litter & other forest detritus.
