Field Notes

Description:

About 15mm in length. The antennae is shorter than the body. Mostly yellow with black markings. Abdomen broadly connected to the thorax.

Habitat:

I found this insect at the edge of a deciduous forest.

Notes:

I'm pretty sure this is a sawfly, but haven't been able to narrow the ID down any further than that. It's very ichuemon-wasp-looking, but it has some characteristics, such as the broad connection between the abdomen and thorax that seems to rule out that ID. If anyone has suggestions, you are certainly welcome to make them.
