Description:

These galls are caused by tiny aphids. Their host is Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana).
<br><br>
They are easily recognizable by a red conical gall structure. This gall, which are rich in nutrients, provide both food and shelter for the female aphid.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on witch hazel leaves in a mixed forest.
