Thanks for your comment skinheaddave. We want to know the species but not so much to take this guy in the hand :)
There are several species from Croatia that look similar. Without the specimen in hand, it would be nearly impossible to move beyond genus.
Thanks for your comment but I don't think it is the Emperor Scorpion, because it lives in African rainforests. The size of this one is about 7 cm and the Emperor Scorpion is larger.
It sure looks like the Emperor Scorpion posted today, Pandinus imperator.
