Description:

Many tall thin "trees" growing out of a large base with "ribs" and big banana-like leaves with these beautiful flowers that smell delicious.

Habitat:

California. My apartment complex.

It is a black and white Bird of paradise. I have seen humming birds drinking the nectar and have tasted it's wonderful juices and recommend you find a nice fresh, fully open flower and poke your finger into it under the Pollen sacks and above the strong horizontal part of the flower

We just saw these at Balboa Park in San Diego with a sign on them. Beautiful flowers.
