Field Notes

Description:

This is a Camelia bush that had a bird's next in it. I no longer see the birds flying in and out of it. There is a string-like white wrapping around the ends of most of the outer branches. In some spots, it looks like Teflon Tape wrapped around a branch. There is dead area inside the outer foliage area as well. It may or may not be a fungi, but I have no idea.

Notes:

I moved this to other because AshishNimkar commented that it is a Larva habitat. Since I know nothing about it, I will assume he is correct. sub.dio commented that it might be mealy bugs. I have to do more research.

I think there is a good chance that you are looking at Citrus Flatid Planthopper nymphs and the wax that they produce. Here is a link. http://bugguide.net/node/view/7342
Thank you. I've moved it from Fungi and I'll look into Mealy bugs.
This should be a Larva habitat not Fungi.
Check and see if they are mealy bugs.
